The City of Cookeville has adopted the 2003 International Building, Residential, Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Codes, along with 2003 NFPA I excluding NFPA 5000, and the 2005 NEC Electrical Code.
Permits are required to:
- Construct a building
- Alter or remodel a building
- Repair a building
- Move a building
- Demolish a building
- Change the occupancy of a building
- Erect or construct a sign
- Install or alter fire-extinguishing apparatus, elevators, engines, steam boilers, furnaces, heaters, incinerators, or other heating apparatus or other appurtenances
- Yard Sales
- Electrical installations
If a project is in excess of $25,000, a Tennessee Contractor's License and proof of Workers Compensation Insurance are required.
