Fire suppression is not the only function of this division, the firefighters are trained as First Responders, EMT's and Paramedics. This training allows the fire department to respond to medical emergencies and assist the Putnam County Ambulance Service in providing quick, responsible medical care in a timely manner. Automatic External Defibrillators are carried on the fire engines, which enables advanced medical treatment in the field in cases of sudden heart stoppage. Each member of the fire department is also trained in the use of rescue equipment so, that in the event of a motor vehicle accident, access to the patient may be gained rapidly.
