Cookeville Depot Museum

The Cookeville Depot Museum, which celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 2009, is a great treasure located right here in Cookeville! It is located at 116 W. Broad Street and is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10am-4pm with free admission! If you would like more information you may call 528.8570.

The mission of the Cookeville Depot Museum is to preserve the Cookeville, Tennessee Central Railroad station as a historic landmark; to acquire mainly railroad artifacts and memorabilia, with an emphasis on the Tennessee Central Railroad; to promote interest and pride in local heritage, particulary as it relates to the railroad; to encourage interest in the broad spectrum of railroading, both past and present; and to welcome the public in its quest for the information and experiences that it has to offer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Murder Mystery
The Cookeville Depot will be presenting "Scandal at the Station" on Friday night, June 14, 2013 at 6:00pm.  For a fun night with some great food (heavy hors d'oeuvres) be sure to join us at the Depot.  "Scandal at the Station" is a murder mystery directed by Kathleen Gilpatrick and produced by the Depot.  This event is a fundraiser for the Depot Museum and tickets are $25 each.  Reserve yours at the Cookeville Performing Arts Center at 931-528-1313 beginning June 10, 2013.

Summer Cinema at the Depot
Also at the Cookeville Depot every Friday night in July, join us once again for our annual "Summer Cinema at the Depot."  Bring your lawn chair or blanket and an appetite for popcorn and drinks and enjoy watching a classic film.  THe movie is FREE, but the popcorn and drinks are only $1.  There is just no place like sitting under the stars on the west patio of the Depot museum watching a classic old movie.  By the way, we always show classic cartoons prior to the main feature!  Keep your eyes open around town or call the museum for a movie schedule.


Currently showing at the Depot Museum...

On display is an HO scale replica of what Cookeville, TN’s Westside looked like in the summer of 1955. It was then that the Tennessee Central Railroad stopped its daily passenger trains. Prior to this, Cookeville had six Tennessee Central passenger trains a day. On the other side of the diorama is a replica of a coal tipple with a model train loading up with coal. In the renovated L&N Caboose, the exhibit "Working on the Railroad: The Right Tool for the Right Job" is currently on display.
