Offenses committed against a person, such as assault, robbery, rape, and homicide comprise a small percentage of Cookeville's crime statistics. However, when these crimes do occur they significantly impact our community. Because of this, personnel are trained in the investigative techniques that ensure thorough and efficient investigation of all personal crimes from the initial stages through prosecution. Some of the specialized training provided for detectives assigned to this unit include crime scene processing, interview and interrogation techniques, and homicide investigation. The Criminal Investigative Division also maintains specialized equipment to provide personnel with the means to collect and process evidence.
