Police Athletic League

PAL brings together cops and kids. The program offers young people meaningful and effective programs designed to harness the positive energy of youth and provide our most valuable resource with the skills to succeed. Partnerships include Cookeville Housing Authority, Fleetguard, Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville Leisure Services, Cookeville Breakfast Rotary Club, and Cookeville High School Track Team. PAL activities include field trips, fishing, basketball, hiking, cookouts, and track and field events. PAL has established a Scholarship endowment to assist an underprivileged youth to attend Tennessee Tech University.

PAL also joins forces with Cookeville Leisure Services each year in June to sponsor the Annual Soap Box Derby. This year over 80 kids competed in the gravity-powered race down the 12th Street track. Cookeville has won the award for Outstanding Race City two years in a row and is one of the top ten race cities in the world! For more information on the Derby, please visit the Cookeville Soap Box Derby or email Lt. Mike Lee.
